　　高明区位于珠江三角洲(the Pearl River Delta)腹地。总面积960平方千米，总人口30万人。高明气候温和，雨量充沛，土地肥沃，有利于发展农业，素有"鱼米之乡"之美誉(enjoy a reputation of ...)。高明的历史可追溯到1475年。1994年4月高明被批准建市。2002年12月高明成为佛山市的一个区(district)。著名的景点包括了更合原始森林，荷城灵龟塔，杨和西坑水库(reservoir)，皂幕山等。荷城是全区政治(politics)、经济(economics)、文化中心。高明到佛山禅城或广州都很容易。高明荷城距佛山禅城区47公里，离广州也只有一个小时的车程。高明确实是个适宜居住的好地方。
