  1936, anthropologist Jia Lanpo discovered another three fossilized skulls of the Upper Cave Man. In the late 1960s, the Xindong Man relics that existed 100,000 years ago were excavated (发掘) in the same place. The series of important discoveries provided an important materials for the research of the origin of mankind. Zhoukoudian was listed in the Protected Cultural Relics by the State Council of China and World Cultural Heritage (遗产) by UNESCO.
