《计算机专业英语（第4版）》特点：
　　1.以学生在全英文环境下组装计算机并完成一个网上商店的设计为总任务，总任务下包括八个项目，通过各项目的理论知识和实践操作，使学生顺利地实现计算机的组装和网上商店的设计。
　　2.每个子项目采用结构化设计思路，分成三个部分，分别是理论学习、实践练习、职场英语。实践练习部分要求学生在全英语的环境下，在专业教师的指导下，在实验室完成相应的工作任务，力求使学生通过理论知识的学习，完成相应的计算机专业任务，并在完成专业任务的过程中巩固和检验理论知识的学习情况；针对计算机职业岗位需求，在每个单元中增加了Occupation English（职场英语）部分。模拟实际的工作情境进行未来工作岗位职场英语的对话，使学生在工作岗位中（或求职过程中）真正做到会听、会说、会用。
　　3.针对在科技英语阅读过程中普遍存在的“病症”，将每个单元分为几个训练模块，如句子主干训练、关键词训练、猜词训练等，每个训练模块训练目标明确，将普通英语中的阅读方法贯穿于专业英语的教学中，针对性地加以训练，使读者能够切实地掌握科技英语的阅读技巧，提高科技英语的阅读能力；文中生词的注释不像以往放在文章结束的地方，而是标示在正文的一侧，方便读者阅读；每个单元的结尾还增加了构词法，使读者能够通过一词掌握多词，迅速扩充词汇量。
　　4.内容取材新颖，多数取材来源于英文网站和英文资料的原版文章，力求反映计算机方面的新知识和新技术；任务设计紧密结合计算机专业类课程，难度适中。
　　《计算机专业英语（第4版）》共分为八个项目，分别为：计算机硬件的组装；计算机安装所需的软件；网络的组建与连接；网上商店的设计；网上商店的美化；商品数据库的建立；网上商店的安全问题；网上商店的交易。
